is pretty warm this morning. and take a look at this beautiful sunrise over the mississippi river. just about a half hour, 45 minutes ago, the sky was orange and blue. just a beautiful sunrise and it's supposed to be a pretty warm day, which we like that around here. let's take a live shot now, or a look at the super dome right now. now, of course the super dome is where all of the action is going to be on sunday. by the way, this is new orleans 10th time hosting a super bowl but only the 7th for the super dome. the first three were held at tulane stadium. there are more than 76,000 seats at the super dome. they spent $750 million on upgrades to the dome since hurricane katrina and by the way, $200 for parking outside that super dome. now, we've been wanting to hear from the coaches, jim and john harbaugh: and we've heard from

them separately but now there is a scheduled news conference for later this morning, 6:30 california time where they are going to actually take the podium together and take a little bit about this upcoming game and maybe even a little bit about their sibling rivalry. so right now, it's pretty exciting. we have a special guest who's not going to join us quite yet. when he's cone with this interview, he's going to come and tell us a little bit about football and you'll want to know who he is because he knows a lot about football. for now, i'm going to send it back into the studio, frank. thank you very much michelle, let's get out to anne makovec because we have a bit of controversy once again, of course, one of the 49ers made a derogatory comment towards gays and now a video that is causing a little bit of trouble as well. anne makovec has the latest she's in san francisco. take it away. >> reporter: the 49ers are not

making any friends in the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender community, after making this it gets better video. >> believe in yourself, set goals for yourself. >> look to the future and it will get better. >> reporter: now that is amad brooks and isaac, they now told usa today they actually didn't realize what the video was about when they signed on for it, so now the it gets better project has cut this 49ers video from its archives. this is more fall out after the comments made by chris culliver perceived as home phobic. he apologized publicly yesterday. and other players are weighing in now as well. >> the fact of the matter is people are real, people have real feelings, you know, so we just have to be very mindful, you know, of what we say to each other. >> there's a lot of homosexuals o throughout in the bay area,

and you know, i hope they don't, i mean, of course they're going to be bothered but i hope they're not just affected by a little comment like that. >> reporter: they definitely are bothered, a lot of people calling for culliver to be suspended by the nfl, and asking him to spend a day with the gay football league in new york. we talked with some of the experts, james brown and our own dennis o'donnell, we'll have the finger on the pulse of the 49ers. they say they don't think the whole thing is going to be a distraction come sunday. live in san francisco, anne makovec, b cbs 5. again, we're live here in new orleans on a warm morning. it's a little cloudy out there. don't know how the bay area is looking lawrence, but you know, the weather out here is e reminding me of the bay area a little bit with the chilly breeze. >> it's been terrible out here. it's been raining cats and dogs, snow everywhere, what a mess, you are missing out being back there for the super bowl.

around the area today, we are looking food again, high pressure dominating our weather. a little hazy outside, and patchy fog in the valleys, the temperatures right now in the 30s and also the 40s. and it looks like we are in for another afternoon, numbers running well above average. don't tell michelle. 50s and 60s normal highs. we're going to be well above that. 67 degrees the expected high in santa rosa and 66 degrees in san jose. that's the late fest here. back to you. -- latest from here. back to you. okay. let's go to michelle now. i thought we might sneak in traffic, but michelle with a couple days away, you've seen a lot of fans walk around and a couple football players because you have a hall of famer and a mighty good dancer. >> look who i have here, a legend emmett smith, thank you so much for joining us this morning. i see you're wearing a red tie,

does that mean maybe you're going for the 49ers here. >> i honestly believe the 49ers will win the game. i think they have the talent to do such but i am routeing for the baltimore ravens, i want to see ray lewis go out on top. he's been a great ambassador for the game for a long time and i have some friends and business partners in baltimore that are ravens fans so i want to make sure that we maintain that good repore between one another. >> reporter: you're rooting for the ravens but you think the 49ers are going to win. we'll take that. >> i believe they will win the game but i am ruthing for the ravens. >> what do you think about this young colin kaepernick, the coach made a gamble but it paid off. >> the coach didn't make a gamble. he understood what he had. it was the right time, right situation for a coach to change the offense up a little bit, that would suited for colin kaepernick and he has done a tremendous job. he is not afraid of the big

this city. >> the history, the hospitality itself, the awesome food. just the atmosphere itself here in new orleans is unbelievable. and this is super bowl time. and they're not doing it just because it's the super bowl. they're doing it because this is the way they live. they have mardi gras going on this week. everybody has a chance to come in and get a little flavor of this and that and enjoy a big super bowl game at the same time. >> and you are talking to viewers in san francisco, do you love san francisco. >> yeah, i do. i actually do. you have your 49ers across the bay, you have the raiders over there as well. being there in san francisco, and visiting the wine country a little bit and going up in that area and shopping. my wife loves to shop in san fran. it's a beautiful place and a great place to visit. >> reporter: i appreciate you so much taking the time to talk a little football with us and a little new orleans, can you say back to you frank. >> back to you frank.

>> all right. emmett, you are the best. 6:09 back here in the bay area. let's take a look at photographic here on a friday. -- traffic here on a friday. we have friday light or are you busy. >> we had one incident after another yesterday it was just a ripple effect. as far as the roads go it's pretty quiet. northbound 101 at least one lane is blocked so it's very slow through san jose. but fortunately for the rest of the bay area it's pretty quiet. you can see a lot of green on all of the traffic sensors, this problem spot cleared. westbound 580 seeing the usual are brake lights and again, just your typical stuff and once you get past those antioch exits then speeds improve above 45 miles per hour. a quick look outside, a couple bridges, here's the live look across the san mateo bridge.

they've zoomed this camera back a little bit, so westbound and eastbound 92 are both moving fine toward the flat section and the high-rise. 14 minutes through hayward and foster city. as you can see this is friday light. not too bad at all heading into fran. new this morning, a fire gutting a garage in san francisco near golden gate park. it happened on 5th avenue. firefighters attacked the fire both from the ground level and from the roof. they had to contain it just around 3:30 this morning. damage estimated at $30,000. fortunately nobody was hurt but a lot of damage. today is the day oakland will start providing municipal identification cards for its residents. they are designed for people without other forms of id, including undocumented immigrants, they cost $10 for senior, and they will offer an optional debt card function.

know, what, her performance, i think it's 12 or 14 minutes long and she said yesterday, i had a hard time picking out what songs i'm going to do because i'm only up there less than 15 minutes. >> reporter: and there's a rumor she may be getting back together with destiny's child for the performance. i don't know if it's true or not. we'll have to tee. >> and good for cd sales, i think madonna when she sang, her stuff went up like 4 fold on eye tunes, it's all good. let's check in with elizabeth, find out what's going on in the traffic world on this friday. thank you frank. and unfortunately it's still getting pretty busy through san jose. we have that one lane blocked on northbound 101 approaching old oakland road and speed sensors picking up 14 miles per hour. pretty jammed up from 280 out past the accident scene, past that old oakland road exit. that is our hot spot now.

drive time up to 18 minutes between 280 and highway 237. an alternate, guadalupe parkway, everything else moving at the limit. that's the one slow spot. if you're heading out of town, heading to new orleans for the super bowl, everything's pretty quiet. all the way down southbound 101 and sfo, 280 moving at top speeds as well. here's a live look across the golden gate bridge. these headlights are moving southbound, and the golden gate bridge toll plaza, they did changes a little while ago. everything is moving at the limits throughout marin county. here's a live look at the dublin interchange, westbound 580 starting to get busy now. i just checked the drive time for this stretch up to 20 minutes from the altemot pass to 680. lawrence has more beautiful weather in the forecast.

of course we have to get through friday first, and today looking good as well. a little bit of outside. patchy fog in the valleys. some visibility is down to a quart and a f half mile. as we head through the afternoon, plenty of sunshine and mild temperatures and a dry weekend on tap. maybe a little bit cooler as we head toward saturday. the jet stream any chance of rain well to the north of the bay area. we keep things dry, a little bit cooler into saturday and warm right back up on sunday. temperatures around the bay area today should be rung high, too. about 66 degrees in san jose. 67 in santa rosa and 62 in san francisco. as we look out over the next couple of days, we'll enjoy lots of sunshine this weekend, just a couple passing cloud and things shift gear as we head into the middle of next week. maybe showers on thursday, but this weekend, yeah, if you're going to stay indoors to watches super bowl, enjoy it, outdoors, you'll be able to

dig a little deeper and start looking at the architecture, it's mighty impressive. >> reporter: this architecture is absolutely beautiful, influenced by the french, also the spanish and we were walking through the french quarter. we've been talking a lot about southern hospitality. we got invited into another home. take a look. >> you walk into just a classic new orleans french quarter style home. the home itself is over 150 years old and we do have the original hardwood floors, the original chandeliers. i did a little research and finds out that tennessee williams when he came to new orleans, stayed here a week and probably the favorite part the balcony, it's a wide balcony as

she was taken by force from her mother in oakland. she is described as having black hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing a pink shirt with a blue bear holding an orange and yellow blanket. here is a photo of the suspect, 56-year-old kim tolefree from oakland. the suspect is described as having black hair and brown eye, 6-foot 4, 270-pound last seen wearing a plaid green and beige coat. and he is armed and dangerous and according to the state registered sex offender web site, he is a registered offender. right now law enforcement is looking for a 1973 gray chevrolet truck, with california license plates 7n79474. now, chp and oakland police say anyone with information is asked to call 911. reporting live from oakland, cate cauguiran cbs 5. and developing news this morning, in the middle east,

this is turkey, one person was killed when a suspected suicide bomber attacked the u.s. embassy in ankura. it exploded in a security check point, a door blown off the hinges and the u.s. ambassador says a guard was killed and one citizen was wounded. police say they have images of the bomber on surveillance video and they are looking at that. switching gears at 6:30. let's get back to michelle in new orleans, what looks like a beautiful day and what should be a big weekend, too, right michelle. >> right. i think it is going to be a gorgeous day today and of course a very busy weekend. super bowl xlvii on sunday. can't wait to watch a little football. also can't wait to hear from the two head coaches. let's take a live look at a news conference. the two led coaches are expected to get to the podium today and hold a joint news conference. they were scheduled at 6:30

which i believe is about a minute after that. i believe they're testing some of the equipment there for the two brothers jim and john to take the stage. we've been talking about, they've talked to the media here in new orleans but they talked separately now they're going o to talk to together. i'm sure they're going to be asking a lot of questions about sibling rivalry or what they talked about over dinner. we'll see what they have to say. >> should be fun. i know the parents, the father said loose lips sink ships and that's the way we like it in the harbaugh family. they haven't talked football as you mentioned they did have a little bit of dinner as well, michelle. >> reporter: that's right. that's right. and the parents did not say who they were rooting for either. we are dealing with something here in new orleans, a little bit of controversy for the 49ers. the team has been pulled out of a program aimed a at reducing violence and bullying against gays in the united states. and with more on that is cbs

lots of sunshine coming our way and temperatures going to be warming up nicely. outside still some 30s and 40s right now. it's a cool start to the day with patchy fog showing up inland. temperatures staying very mild toward the afternoon. 50s and 60s usually at this time of year. well into the 60s. 66 in san jose. and 62 in san francisco. but i have to say, elizabeth, those beignets are sounding pretty good right now. >> what are you doing, you're preparing for a noon show. let's go out live towards the bay bridge. got a little sneak peak of mike sugarman there as well. they turned the metering lights on but not too bad at all. delays in the middle lanes, outer lanes flowing nicely into san francisco. a great commute there. elsewhere, problem spot, northbound 101 approaching old oakland road. look at that back up. it is stacked to fullley. we got word that accident is cleared to the right shoulder.

was the riskier gut citiest guy growing up and can you tell a story about that. >> well, you know, as far as my memories of this season right now and what got us here and how hard it was to get here, understand that, and tremendously excited to be here. and looking very much forward to the game, the competition. but as i look back on the season, you know, the greatest share is how our players played, going back to our very first game in green bay, randy moss catches a big touchdown, am alex smith has a great game. david akers kicks a 63-yard field goal. we were down here just a couple months ago playing in new orleans, and ahmad brooks huge interception and daunte with a touchdown. collins, the way he was

condoleezza rice to bring the super bowl here. >> we want to bring the super bowl either 16 or 17, we really would prefer the 50th 50th anniversary of the super bowl and believe me with people like daniel lury and i'm recruiting john madden, it's going to be something very special, and i believe san francisco is currently in the final three or four cities that are under consideration. >> houston is one, miami is one, and they're asked you to help put something together on this. >> they're wondering if we can handle it and we're going to show them sunday that we can. >> o to handle the crowds and parties. >> yeah, and it costs a lot overmine. indianapolis spent $25 million to bring the super bowl in. >> san francisco will be prepared to spend whatever it takes, literally. we have the broad bay area participating at every level in this effort.
